Rockefeller State Park Engagement Photos

Jill and Matt live in New York and decided on using Rockefeller State Park for their engagement session. Based in Westchester County, this park truly is the perfect all-in-one location. It offers stunning stone buildings as a backdrop, tree lined paths, and wide open fields with tall grass. Basically, a photographer’s dream! We were able to explore the park and capture so many great shots of Matt, Jill, and their adorable puppy Penny (who obviously stole the show). Every time we turned around and moved to a new spot, I squealed with excitement because of how perfect the location was! 

A Hot Summer Engagement Session

This day almost didn’t happen. Why, you ask? Because this day was HOT. I’m talking about a true summer scorcher. Over 90 degrees with insane humidity. We already postponed once due to weather, so Jill and Matt decided to stick it out. They really wanted to nail their outfits too, so they followed my Engagement Session Style Guide to a T… but that meant Matt was dressed in a full suit in the heat! He was the champion of the night and kept his jacket on the whole time, and he managed to do it all with a gracious smile. WHAT A TROOPER!

About Matt and Jill

This engagement session was one of my favorites to date, for a few reasons. For starters, Matt and I have known each other since we were teenagers. We were volunteer firefighters together way back when! He and my brother have remained close over the years, and I was so thrilled when he and Jill reached out to me to photograph their wedding. To top it all off, Jill is also an incredible photographer herself! Talk about pressure!

A Sunset to End a Rockefeller State Park Engagement Session

For all of their hard work traipsing through the grass in the summer heat, Mother Nature decided to bless us with one incredible sunset at the end of their session. It was the perfect send off for the end of a steamy summer engagement session. We had one extra little treat at the end of the session too.. We were nervous that we illegally parked, so Matt texted one of his buddies in the local police department asking for some leniency. When we got back to our cars, we were greeted with a fake parking ticket with some well wishes and congratulations.
